I used to be the fat kid with low self esteem. Tired by the constant bullying and brandished with labels such as the incredible bulk, the change started when I was 17 and weighed 106 Kg. I had just moved to London for university.
I started eating a lot less, restricting calories and the weight dropped but I was not fit or very healthy and had the skinny fat look. After I completed uni, I moved back home to Kenya and was introduced to the world of Muay Thai. I instantly took to it and everything changed. I got very fit, my confidence grew and I had a new-found sense of worth.
I taught myself to eat better but I was very rigid in my ways -constantly tormented by thoughts of what I could and couldn’t eat. After progressing with Muay Thai I moved back to London and transitioned into MMA (mixed martial arts). There I had an epiphany in the form of my breaking a rib in a fight and everything changed. I couldn’t train and had to stop fighting, but I believe that everything happens for a reason. I was forced to face my internal demons head-on and I learnt to eat correctly with flexibility (counting my macros). I am now proud to say I am a certified nutritionist and have come full circle. I stay very active thanks to having my own gym. Through dedication, discipline and commitment I have changed my body to become the best me i can be.
